Employers to deduct from more borrowers

Scroll To Questions

The Government is proposing that employers would deduct Student Loan repayments from more borrowers, including contractors, casual agricultural workers and election-day workers.

These workers would no longer have to make a large end-of-year payment, or make three equal lump sum payments during the following year.

Instead the borrower’s employer would deduct 12% from their income above the repayment threshold each payday.

The proposed change would help these workers pay back their Student Loans as they earn income.
